What to Expect (Cataracts)

Here’s a step-by-step outline of the cataract removal process.

Step 1: Have a complete, dilated exam at Texas Vision & Laser Center
Bring your glasses

• Be out of your contact lenses for 2 weeks

• Plan to be with us for about 2 hours - If the surgeon confirms that you could benefit from cataract surgery at this time then

• schedule a Pre-Operative appointment - Proceed to Step 2
  
  

Step 2: Pre-Operative appointment

• Exact pricing & timeline will be provided ∙ Important paperwork will be completed ∙ Schedule date(s) of cataract surgery ∙ We can answer all your questions

• Plan to be with us for a couple hours ∙ Proceed to Step 3

Step 3: Cataract Surgery for each eye (if applicable)

• This will be scheduled during your Pre-Op appointment (Step 2)

• One eye at a time, about a week apart ∙ Surgeries are typically performed in our Surgery Center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays ∙ You will need a driver ∙ Proceed to Step 4
  
  

Step 4: Post-Operative appointments per surgery (about 3 visits)

• These will be scheduled during your Pre-Op appointment. You will need a minimum of THREE post-op appointments. Usually these occur at 1 day, 1 week & 1 month after surgery
